Lead A Freediving Course Like No Other

Deep Week courses hit different. A normal freediving course is run over two to three days and often times feels incredibly transactional. Deep Week courses offer students a full week to progress, learn and improve. You grow with them, truly see them progress and celebrate their wins with them. You get to work with a divers array of assistants and not only show them how you teach but also pick up new ways of teaching your students as well. In short, being a Wave Head at Deep Week is freaking awesome!

What will I do as a Wave Head?

  • Leading Wave Theory sessions according to the Deep Week Schedule (provided in person and by email)

  • Plan and instruct assigned Instructor Assistants on what students will be doing during the open water session daily and tracking student progress toward crossing off requirements

  • Serve as a point of contact for your assigned students, answering questions and providing them with information and bringing caring and compassionate energy

  • Floating in the water during open water sessions and instructing during that time

  • Facilitating and coaching one open water session per day (as needed)

  • Facilitating and coaching 2 open water sessions for 1 of the teaching days (as needed.)

  • Facilitating and coaching students in the confined water session

  • Setting up, running and clean up for the Ninja Warrior Course

  • Acting as a dive guide during the fun diving activities

FAQs

  • Unfortunately not! That said, we do often run crossovers after Deep Week and one of our compensation options as an Instructor Assistant is a crossover to Molchanovs for free. So, the first step is to become a Molchanovs instructor, then we can talk!

  • Your next step is to reach out using the form below and contact us! After you share more details with us about your experience as an instructor, our Deep Week Manager will set up an interview with you where you will go through a topic from the wave you would like to teach at random. Once that is complete, we will make a decision!

  • Nope! Accommodation, travel and food is all your responsibility to cover. Occasionally we are able to get a discount for accommodations or make an exception to this, but generally we do not provide any financial assistance.

  • At this time, no. This may change in the future but, until you see something change here, you will not receive credit for any certifications that may come as a result of Deep Week.

  • Ninja Warrior is our underwater obstacle course that we have generally every Deep Week. You will be expected to be in the water helping to set up buoys and do a variety of little things to make the obstacle course happen (tie hula hoops to lines, move bottom weights, etc.) During the course, you may be asked to man a buoy, direct students, or announce times. Finally, we always need help taking everything down after everyone has gone! All in all, its a fantastic time and more details will be provided at Deep Week!

As for the Fun Diving, this is different in every location. Some times it is going to ship wrecks. Other times we head to beautiful areas of coral to dive. Generally though, you will be asked to just be in the water, floating and diving around, modeling good safetying behavior and diving with a buddy and ensuring that those around you are as well. Basically though, we just have fun and keep an eye out for each other!
