Oxygen: the source of life
We are breathing every day, every hour, every minute. We don’t even think about it, relying on our body’s natural ability to inhale that fresh air and absorb the lifeforce for our organs and tissues: oxygen.
Sometimes, we feel like we need more of it, though.
Going for a run… and starting to pant heavily after just a couple of minutes.
Jumping in the pool to swim some laps…and finding it hard to pace our breathing.
Practicing that tricky yoga pose…and forgetting to breathe due to the sudden effort and tension.
Or simply dealing with day-to-day adult life and wishing to reduce stress and anxiety.
So is it about more oxygen?
Surprisingly, it’s not! Our bodies are already very skilled at maintaining highest levels of oxygen at all times.
It’s about carbon dioxide.
Yes, that gas our bodies produce as a result of absorbing oxygen and that we expel every time we exhale.
Understanding - and improving! - the relationship with carbon dioxide can change your life.
How do you know that?
For years, we have been teaching the art of freediving - descending into the underwater world on just a breath hold to those who are curious.
To be able to hold their breath, one needs to know how to breathe in the first place - and then deal with the excess of carbon dioxide in their system.
We discovered that our breath-hold students overwhelmingly report increase in their overall fitness and mental health.
If they like swimming, they are now able to swim longer.
If they run or lift weights, their muscles now take longer to give up.
If they do yoga, they can sink into the asanas with less effort.
And it’s re-discovering their breathing that started to make all the difference.
So we decided to bring it to you: our knowledge and experience in breathing science to help you live your life to the fullest by using the true power of your lungs.
No, you don’t need to hold your breath during your activity of choice.
Rather, we teach you how practicing breathing less - or holding your breath - can enhance your regular breathing during exercise or just daily life.
Think of it as resistance training in the gym: you lift weights to make your muscles stronger for an upcoming race. But you wouldn’t bring those weights with you to carry during the actual race, right?
Same resistance training here - this time, for your lungs and your nervous system.
Do I need to hold my breath?
I was told to keep breathing!
Is it safe?
Yes.
We are bringing you the latest knowledge from the experts in breathing and non-breathing - that comes along with our track record of ZERO incidents during our recreational courses.
Training safely is our number one priority - and we will equip you with the necessary knowledge for your own safe breathing discovery journey.
