Pool Training
in Australia
Come train
with us.
So, you’ve finished your freediving course or just returned from a Deep Week, and you’re wondering… now what?
You’re excited to get back in the water, keep improving, and do what you love most: freediving!
The good news? You don’t need the ocean to keep progressing.
Pool training is one of the best ways to build your skills, improve your breath-holds, and develop the technique and confidence that will make a difference in your diving.
In fact, some of the biggest improvements in a freediver’s performance happen in the pool!
And, as a bonus, its a lot of fun!
We get together, train, challenge ourselves, hang out with other freedivers, and, of course, spend plenty of time holding our breath.
Join a community of like minded freedivers improving, training and having fun! Who knows, maybe you will find your future dive buddy the next lane over from you!
Pool training is for you if:
You want to improve your breath hold
You want to improve your technique in any discipline
You want to improve your overall comfort underwater
You want to train before a trip to be able to fully experience the diving there
You want to train for a competition
You want to practice your skills in a friendly, safe and supportive environment
How can pool training improve your breath hold?
If you want to make meaningful improvements to your breath hold, the pool is one of the best places to train.
Of course, you’ll improve simply by getting in the ocean and diving regularly. But if you want structured, targeted training that helps you build your breath hold, develop your technique, and become a more capable freediver, pool training is where you can really focus on the details.
-
Think of training in a pool like a laboratory. The controlled environment of the pool gives you the opportunity to improve with less of the environmental factors that often impact our dives in open water!
You can work on swimming further, holding your breath longer, refining your technique, and gradually increasing your workload all while being supported by experienced freediving instructors!
Because the environment is predictable, you can focus entirely on your training rather than dealing with currents, waves, visibility, depth or other variables. How good right?

At Freediving Family, we believe solid training should not feel like you’re suffering.
Our training is kept at an intensity that feels comfortable and manageable for you and you are encouraged and taught to make your own modifications to train while enjoying the challenge. We never train by pushing you to the point of discomfort or exhaustion.
Instead, we focus on building comfortable, repeatable breath holds over time. This approach allows you to train consistently, enjoy the process, and make sustainable progress.

Our pool training follows the Molchanovs approach to freediving training, giving you a structured way to continue developing your skills long after your course is finished.
The Molchanovs training system was developed from the experience of some of the world's most accomplished freedivers, including World Champion Alexey Molchanov, and is designed around the idea that meaningful progress comes from consistent, structured training between courses.
That means every session has a purpose, whether we're working on technique, distance, breath holds, relaxation, or simply becoming more efficient in the water.
No ego. No pressure to hit a new personal best every week. Just good people, good community and great fun!

As for any type of training, the more consistent you are, the better results you will experience!
But keep in mind that this is something you are doing for yourself so keep it fun and enjoyable! Better train once in a while than waiting for the perfect timing or starts to align… trust us, that never happens! Just show up and let us guide you through the training.
