Tech Retreat with Brandon Reed
Deep Spot, Poland (4 Spots Total)
What Are Tech Retreats?
Tech retreats are small and intimate training camps run by Freediving Family with our typical fun, high energy and emphasis on safe progression through mental work and refined technique.
We designed these camps as a way for you to get more one on one time with high level instructors that have years of experience educating freedivers of all levels. We get into the water each day and coach you on your diving technique in the water, run training seminars on improving your diving technique in the afternoons, and have fun in the evenings!
Who Is This Camp For?
While we love all of you beautiful freedivers at all of your various stages of training and growing, we cannot effectively run a camp for all with just one person! As such, this event is specifically focused on divers that are diving between 25m and 45m who are looking to work on refining their technique, improve their equalization through relaxation, and for those looking to learn how to build a training plan for themselves. You will learn various tools for solving your diving sticking points, learn through doing by working with Brandon (your coach for this retreat) and attend workshops that will help you progress with your training in a safe way without a coach.
Training In Europes Deepest Pool!
Freediving Family has never done an event in one of the deep pools in the world but we are remedying that now! We are going to Mszczonów, Poland where Deep Spot, Europes Deepest Pool (and previously Deepest Pool in the World until Deep Dive Dubai came along) boasts a 45m deep tube of crystal clear water set at 32-34c! After we do our morning dive sessions, Brandon (our static master and Freediving Family coach) will run a variety of workshops focused on diving technique work and mental focus and relaxation.
While we will primarily use the pool for daily training, we will have a bit of time to play around in the pool, diving down to the sunken boat and cruise through some of the tunnels, take some photos, and generally have a great time being our typical goofy selves! After all, working hard requires that we also must play hard, which is why we will also take a day to head to the Suntago Park of Poland, a massive water park with slides, warm pools, hot tubs, saunas and lots of options for relaxation and fun!
Our Tech Retreats are available to anyone with an existing freediving certificate and is the perfect opportunity to extend your training beyond your initial freediving courses. Your retreat package covers entry fees for the pool, your coach and your entry into Suntago Park of Poland, leaving you to cover your food, accommodation, transportation, and your fun! Deep Spot has offered us 20% off accommodation during our time there. You can book with them directly once you have signed up for the Retreat!

The Activities
Swimming in a fresh water indoor pool is typically nothing new for a freediver. But diving in a fresh water DEEP pool is something truly unique. You can think of diving in a pool like this as diving in a lab, where all other factors are removed. Theres no current, no surface movement, and the water is warm. Its the PERFECT place to practice and refine your technique work.
Each day, we will jump into the water with Brandon, our coach and facilitator for this retreat. After a 90 minute session of diving and working on safetying, there will be a bit of a break for food before the afternoons activities.
In the afternoon, we will get together to go through technique workshops, including analyzing our own techniques through video feedback as well as watching footage of world record holders to learn not only how to improve, but also how to modify our own technique.
After our classroom session, we will jump back into the pool to practice what we discussed in the classroom and smash out a second session.
Finally, in the evenings we will head out for dinner as a group and, if you are a freediver you know that, the conversation will always turn towards freediving and sharing knowledge and experience!
On our rest day, because Brandon is a big fan of saunas, we will head to Suntago Park of Poland where we will spend the day relaxing, recovering and playing in the various pools, slides and hot tubs or sweating in the sauna!

The Schedule
Our daily schedule is pretty standard for most of our time together. We will be doing two dive sessions per day with one session in the morning followed by lunch and some theory before we head back into the pool for more diving and dinner after that! Each session is 90 minutes of pool time and there is a strict cut off time so we need to be done by then.
To keep the sessions moving, you will be safetying each other while Brandon dives with each one of you checking on your technique, providing feedback and getting footage to review later! There will be minimal down time on the buoy (because Brandon likes to run a tight ship and loves diving!) so be prepared to get quick bits of feedback during the dive session and then spend more time dissecting technique and what you felt on the dive when we are in the classroom. In the afternoon, we will all get together in one of the classrooms and review the days diving, review video footage and Brandon will discuss a variety of topics to help improve your technique work for the afternoon session.
Brandon is still finalizing the pool times but we will gather at Deep Spot on the first day at 9:30am to have a welcome meeting and get onto the same page before we begin the retreat!
