This course is where freediving begins or your time to improve your current knowledge and skills. Absolutely anyone can join the Wave 1 course! You might have no freediving or even snorkelling experience or you've been diving for years.

Regardless, we work with divers at their level. This is not a cookie cutter course but one that tailored to suit you and what you want to get out of freediving.

We believe that freediving is for everyone because freediving is FUN! Freediving isn’t hard and freediving feels good!

With our help you will be able to dive deeper than you thought was possible and stay underwater longer that you could have imagined and it will all feel easy.

The feeling of being weightless underwater, the feeling of being connected to the aquatic world is truly magical!

At no point in time will you be rushed into getting “there” or pushing yourself. And if you don't complete the requirements to obtain the Molchanovs certification you can come back unlimited time for free until you do.

  • 1 - What You'll Learn

    • The basics of freediving physics and physiology so you can understand how breath holds and depth effect the body.

    • How to breathe for freediving.

    • Freediving safety and rescue techniques.

    • All the physical skills you'll need to hold your breath comfortably for several minutes and dive up to 20 metres deep.

    • Freediving equalisations techniques.

    • How to train so you can keep improving as a diver.

A sneak peek of your course

Schedules will vary according to location. 2-day course.

Day 1: 9 AM - 4 PM approx.

Theory and Pool

Theory Session: What is freediving? Physics, Physiology, Relaxation and Breathing, Equalization, Mental Techniques, and more.

Pool Session: an excellent opportunity to learn the fundamental techniques: finning and no fins, and discover how to relax for better performance.

Day 2: 8 AM - 3 PM approx.

Open Water Session

You'll be doing 2 x dive sessions for the day with a break for lunch in between.

FAQs

  • The Wave 1 is a 2-day course.

  • Be at least 16 years old (with a parental/guardian's signed consent).

    Bring your Medical & Liability Release forms signed and completed before starting the course.

    Swim 200m unassisted, non-stop in a pool setting. You can take as much time as you need and you're free to choose any swimming stroke(s) of your preference for this.

  • Once you finish your course and complete all the requirements you will receive a certification according to the requirements met: LAP 1 or WAVE 1.
    You have 1 year from the start date of your course to complete those requirements.

  • DO NOT scuba dive 24 hours before freediving.

    DO NOT dive if you are congested.

    DO NOT have a heavy breakfast before your dives.

    DO NOT have any coffee or energetic drinks before your dives.

  • The minimum amount of students we can take per course is 3 pax. So if you and your family or friends would like to have a private course (and you’re more than 3 pax), then we can definitely arrange a date exclusively for you.
