It is the world's premier Freediving Education Event and the worlds largest freediving festival.
Deep Week brings the best freedivers, freediving instructors and experts from all over the world, to one spectacular place.
A whole week where we can share knowledge and improve our diving.
Freediving in the Mexican Cenotes
Oh get ready! The Mexican Cenotes around Playa del Carmen are more than just freshwater sinkholes. More than the best freshwater diving destination in the world! These enchanting caves are the sacred Mayan entrances to the underworld.
Nestled in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula, these cenotes are hidden gems waiting to be explored. With their crystal-clear turquoise waters and mystical limestone formations, the cenotes offer a surreal underwater playground.
No two Cenotes are the same! Some have unparalleled visibility. Others have haloclines where salt and freshwater stack on top of each other creating a mirage in the water. Some cenotes have layers of sulfer at the bottom where, descending into them results in immediate and perfect darkness!
During the week we plan on training in and exploring as many of these spectacular Cenotes as possible. There are literally thousands of them around Playa del Carmen and we have curated the best of the best for you!
We have wanted to plan a Deep Week in Mexico for a VERY long time so we are so excited to take you on an unforgettable underwater odyssey that, I promise, will leave you in awe! There is truly nowhere on the planet with caves, caverns, sinkholes remotely close to the Cenotes!
Besides the magic of the Cenotes we will living it up in Mexico! Diving into the Mexican culture, eating way too many tacos and hitting the salsa bars!

The Workshops
Each Deep Week is different and offers interesting and unique workshops but there are always a few classics as well. Adam, along with our other guest instructors, will be leading a variety of interesting and fun workshops every day and be open to questions. They are a great opportunity to learn from some of the best divers and freediving educators in the world and one of the things that makes Deep Week such an amazing and unique experience.
If you arent feeling any of the workshops on the day, we can arrange some fun diving in one of the many cenotes or even the world class tropical reef off shore from Playa Del Carmen.
We will have a full list of workshops and Cenotes for you, so come prepared to dive and learn your heart out!

The Activities
Deep Week has a packed schedule if you want to follow it to the letter! We dive every day (except for rest day on Wednesday), pool sessions, freediving theory sessions and workshops, all of which will ensure you cover all of your course requirements, if you decide you want a freediving certification.
We also offer sunrise yoga and Meditation sessions each day and have family dinners where we all get together and eat, enjoy each others company and talk about freediving (duh!)
We d love springing surprises on our Deep Weekers during the week. From creating underwater obstacle courses for them, arranging pedicures during workshops, turning up to dive sessions with costumes. We genuinely aim to have as much fun as possible. The more fun you have, the better you dive.

We will provide a full day to day itinerary closer to the date. But in general there is something going on at every moment of the day and you’re welcome to come to as much or as little as you like!

The Legends

Get ready to hear first hand from these athletes their training routines, techniques and recommendations. And especially get ready to have fun!
Adam Stern is the creator of Deep Week and the Freediving Family. He is an Australian champion and 8-time Australian record holder when it comes to the sport of freediving.
Adam is known as one of the leading names in the freediving world for his exploits. He's not just an athlete, but also a leading educator in this sport. He is one of the founders and creators of the Molchanovs Education System.
Pepe Salcedo is a Mexican Record Holder and also a Continental Record Holder for the Americas. He is one of the most experienced freediving competitors and instructors in the world.
Pepe’s freediving school, Blackfin Freediving, is based in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. He knows the Cenotes like the back of his hand and will be guiding us through what is going to be the experience of a lifetime!
Staying in Playa del Carmen
The main event hotel will be Hotel Hulku which will be our base of operations for the week.
We will hold our theory and workshops there as well as use it for a meet up spot before heading out diving!
There are many other options for bookings in the area and if you decide not to stay at Hotel Hulku, that’s totally okay!

Certifications
During the 8 days you'll be able to take any level of Molchanovs freediving courses that you like!

First time? If this is your first taking a freediving course, you'll be able to sign in for your Wave 1. If you progress nice and easy you can also take your Wave 2 course.

If you have taken your Wave 1 course before or equivalent, you'll be able to take your Wave 2 course and start your Wave 3 course.

If you have taken your Wave 2 course or equivalent, then you'll be able to take your full Wave 3 course.

You’ll be able to take the Wave 4 course. The most advanced freediving certification that exists!

Of course! If you are just getting started in your Freediving journey, we offer Wave 1 courses which are beginner courses. You will learn all the basics of this sport, physiology, safety, and equalization.
Most importantly, you will have a whole week to practice your skills and get more comfortable in the water. No rushing through a 2-day course. Get ready to immerse yourself in Freediving with us!

All of our courses are Molchanovs Courses.

The price includes all workshops, training and certification costs.
Entry and travel to the Cenotes, staff, set-up and facilities to run the event are covered by your ticket.
Deep Week does not include accommodation, travel expenses, visa fees, COVID tests, meals or gear hire.
We are also not responsible for how you get to the location. It’s up to you to ensure you have met all the entry requirements of the country, depending on your circumstances. We are unable to provide individual or country-specific advice or assistance.

We cannot issue refunds.
For any circumstances that prevent you from coming to the event, we offer to transfer your payment (deposit or full payment) to a future event in 2023 if you give us at least 30 days notice before the start of the event.

Unfortunately it’s not included. You can either bring your own gear from home or you will be able to rent gear from the dive shop at Skylodge Resort, including weights

The water in the Cenotes is around 24 - 25 degrees. We recommend that you wear a 3mm wetsuit.

You can pay an initial deposit to secure your spot and later on pay the remainder balance.
With no deposit, there is no booking confirmed.
As soon as you book in, you will receive an email with a button that says “Pay Remainder Balance”. You can click that button anytime you like.
We ask the full payment to be covered six weeks before the start of the event.
You can also choose to pay in full.
