Freediving Family Reunion:

Liveaboard Adventure to Komodo Island, Bali (12 Spots Total)

Untouched Coral Reefs in Electric Blue Water

Join us for an incredible journey through the world-famous Komodo National Park, where powerful ocean currents create one of the most biodiverse marine environments on Earth. Over four days and three nights, we will explore remote islands, vibrant reefs, and breathtaking landscapes, all while freediving alongside some of the ocean’s most majestic creatures. This trip and the path we will take is tailored for freedivers, meaning our dive locations are between 10m and 20m of depth, with awesome wildlife to be seen all around.

Our adventure begins in Labuan Bajo (LBJ Airport), the gateway to Komodo National Park. After a relaxing evening at a beachfront hotel, we’ll set sail on a four-day, three-night liveaboard safari aboard a spacious phinisi boat, a traditional Indonesian sailing vessel. We will sleep in air-conditioned bunk rooms (with upgrade options available) and enjoy three freshly prepared meals a day as we cruise between some of the most stunning islands in the region.

Each day will be packed with adventure—morning freediving sessions, afternoon exploration, and evenings spent under the stars. We will dive with manta rays, reef sharks, sea turtles, and massive schools of fish, explore pink sand beaches, hike to breathtaking viewpoints, and encounter the legendary Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. Expect unforgettable moments, from drifting over coral-covered ridges to swimming alongside gentle giants in crystal-clear waters.

This is one of our most requested event locations and we’re really excited for this inaugural adventure!

What Are Freediving Family Reunions?

Freediving Family Retreats are our way of bringing the friends and family we meet at Deep Weeks together once again to use what we learned to have fun and dive together in an incredible place somewhere in the world!

Each family reunion is a close knit and unique experience for those that join. Space is very limited at these events which opens us up to one of a kind opportunities to explore the world with friends.

Beautiful Island Diving Awaits!

For this incredible journey through Komodo National Park, we will be traveling aboard a traditional Indonesian phinisi liveaboard, a beautifully crafted wooden sailing vessel designed for both adventure and comfort. These boats have been used for centuries by seafarers in Indonesia and are perfectly suited for exploring Komodo’s remote islands and vibrant reefs.

The spacious deck areas provide the perfect place to relax between dives, soak in the breathtaking scenery, and enjoy stunning sunrises and sunsets over the water. Below deck, you’ll find newly renovated rooms with cozy sleeping arrangements, as well as shared bathrooms with freshwater showers. For those looking for extra privacy, upgraded accommodation options are available upon checkout and based on a first come, first serve basis.

Throughout the trip, our onboard crew will take care of everything, preparing delicious freshly cooked meals each day, ensuring all logistics run smoothly, and making sure you have everything you need for an unforgettable experience.

In the mean time, check out our upcoming Deep Week dates by going to the Deep Week tab in our menu and join us for our next Deep Week! We are going to be in Bali running a Deep Week literally the week before this adventure begins. Why don’t you join us there!

  • During our Family Reunions, we don’t offer certifications. You must be at least Wave 1 certified or the equivalent to be able to attend these events!

  • Due to the unique nature of the events and how each one is individually planned, we are only able to transfer your deposit to a future Freediving Family Reunion and only if you have requested the deposit to be moved no closer than 6 weeks before the event begins.

In the event that you need to cancel your spot between 6 weeks and 2 weeks of the event starting, we do charge a fee equal to the event deposit. Any balance remaining can be applied to a future Family Reunion.

  • This event is going to be epic! We have fresh water showers, bathrooms, private and bunk rooms, fans, and even power! We will have lots of opportunities to hang out on deck in the sun or underneath the deck relaxing or in cabins! And then when you look outside you will remember that you are on a boat floating around some of the most stunning and beautiful islands you have ever seen!

  • We can provide mask, snorkel and short plastic fins if you require but we know most of you will have your own dive gear. Lead will be provided but weight belts will not so please do bring your own!

  • The water in the Indonesia is pretty incredible!! For the most part, the wetsuit you wear will be primarily for sun protection. 1.5mm should be fine and if you wanted to do a rash guard and leggings to protect yourself, that would be totally viable as well. If you do get cold, you could wear a 3mm and flood it when you get really warm or you can jump out, warm up in the sun on the boat deck, and jump back in when you are ready!

  • You can pay an initial deposit to secure your spot and 6 weeks before the reunion begins the remaining balance is due.

With no deposit, there is no booking confirmed.

As soon as you book in, you will receive an email with a button that says “Pay Remainder Balance”. We ask that if you are booking on within 6 weeks of the event starting, you continue on to pay the remaining balance as soon as possible!

We ask the full payment to be covered six weeks before the start of the event.

You can also choose to pay in full upon checkout.

For this event, we have “add ons” available that will determine which bed you get along with if you want to sign up for the after reunion. These options are available upon checkout.

  • You can pay with a credit or debit card on our website. The payment is securely captured through Stripe. PayPal transfer or crypto are also options. If you would like to pay with PayPal or crypto, please contact Marissa at deepweek@freedivingfamily.com and she can assist you.

  • Nothing during the retreat is compulsory.

If you feel like you need some time to chill and relax by skipping a dive session, then by all means do so!

As Brandon always says, this is your vacation and you get to decide how much or little you want to do!

If you do decide to skip an activity, you are not entitled to a partial refund on the event.

  • Absolutely!! We are holding the twin bed private rooms for partners and those willing to share a room together first. There is an additional cost to the rooms because they also have a private bathroom. If you are keen to share with someone, please mark that you would like to share a room when you check out and who that person is!
