Sydney is home to the largest freediving scene in Australia. Most of the best dive spots in Sydney can be accessed from shore and because of this the Sydney community is a hustling bustling, welcome group of divers that are out exploring the ocean every single weekend! We run our theory and pool sessions from the Adreno store in Alexandria. Most of our dive sessions are in Sydney’s very own little freediving hub, Lilli Pilli Baths. But it all just depends on the weather. We go where ever the weather and diving will be best!

WAVE 1 - Beginner Freediving
Learn amazing skills that will allow you to stay underwater longer, explore the depths of oceans, and feel completely comfortable holding your breath! Absolutely anyone can join! This is where freediving begins!

WAVE 2 - Advanced Freediving
Learn how to train and use your body for greater freediving performance. Also, how to dive comfortably from 24 – 30 metres and to achieve breath-holds of over two and a half minutes. This is where you take your diving to the next level!

WAVE 3 - Master Freediving
Learn advanced relaxation and equalisation techniques to achieve maximum performance in your dives and breath holds. This is the highest level recreational freediving course in the world.

WAVE 1
2 day course.
Requirements: Swim 200m unassisted, non-stop in a pool setting.
Never taken a freediving course? We recommend you start here. Anyone can take this course!

WAVE 2
2.5 day course. Online theory session.
Prerequisites: Wave 1 certificate or equivalent.
We recognise most certification bodies so it’s not a drama at all if you’ve taken your beginner freediving course somewhere else.

5 day course. Online and in person theory sessions.
Prerequisites: Wave 2 certificate or equivalent.

Spearfishing 1 day
Learn everything you need to be a confident spearo! How to handle your equipment, what fish are good to eat and how to identify them, hunting/stalking techniques and everything you need to stay safe while spearfishing. On this 1 day course you spend the morning learning everything above then you’ll hop in the water with all your gear and our instructor will take you spearfishing. Besides being an amazing life tool…it will be fun!

Spearfishing 2 days
On the 2 day spearfishing course we cover everything that we cover on our one day course except we also include comprehensive freediving instruction as well. Our aim is to improve your freediving as much as possible so you feel comfortable underwater, diving to depth with ease as you are hunting. For those who really want to immerse themselves in spearfishing this 2 day course will be for you!

Freediving Family has the largest network of instructors in Australia! Our Instructors have either done their Instructor Course with Adam as their Mentor, or worked already in many of Freediving Family Events like Deep Week, Courses, and trips.

IGOR
Igor has been freediving for as long as he can remember. Since he was 3 years old, his father taught him how to dive in Ukraine in lakes, rivers and the Black Sea. After moving to Australia he was trained and certified as a freediving instructor by Adam Stern.
Now he shares his knowledge and passion with anyone who'd like to learn more. For him, freediving is not about numbers, but about the way we feel and perceive ourselves.

FAQs

Gear hire is included free of charge in all our courses. Our hire gear is all high quality freediving equipment. It makes a big difference!

All of our courses are Molchanovs courses. Once you finish your course and complete all the requirements you will receive a certification.

If you don’t pass the performance requirements during the course you can come back and dive with us unlimited times until you do! You have 1 year to complete the requirements of the course.

DO NOT scuba dive 24 hours before freediving.
DO NOT dive if you are congested.
DO NOT have a heavy breakfast before your dives.
DO NOT have any coffee or energetic drinks before your dives.

You need to be at least 16 years old (with a parental/guardian's signed consent).
You need to bring your Medical & Liability Release forms signed and completed before starting the course.
For each level, there are specific prerequisites that you can check above.

The minimum amount of students we can take per course is 3 persons. So if you and your family or friends would like to have a private course (and there are at least 3 of you), then we can definitely arrange a date exclusively for you.
