This all-women’s spearing course is not your typical spearing trip - this is a space built by women, for women.
If you’ve ever felt intimidated by the culture around spearing but have always yearned to give it a go, then this is your chance.
Join us on this opportunity to discover your inner huntress and experience the ocean in a different way, while connecting with your fellow sea-sisters.
No prior experience needed as this is a trip for beginners! We’ll go over all the basics and then some, and even getting in some target practice and training before hitting the reefs!
Together, just 8 women, will gather in Soufriere for seven days of freediving, hunting, and sharing.
This is an intimate gathering, lovingly designed to create a judgement-free, safe environment to try something new. Reserve your spot now and come ready to dive deep, share what we catch, and leave re-wilded.
What Are Freediving Family Expeditions?
Our expeditions are a chance to explore some of the most incredible underwater destinations on the planet alongside a community of adventurous, ocean-loving humans who are just as obsessed with freediving as you are. Think breathtaking dive sites, inquisitive marine life, local food, spontaneous adventures, and the kind of memories that somehow only happen when you throw a bunch of freedivers together in a beautiful part of the world.
While our mailing list and past students get first access to registrations, many of our expeditions are also open to the wider freediving community — so whether you’ve trained with us before or are joining us for the first time, you’re invited to come dive, explore, and experience it all with us.
But this one is special as it’s a trip designed by women, for women. 🫶

Where are we staying?
Soufriére is pure Caribbean magic. Nestled in a tropical rainforest, you’ll find friendly locals, delicious home-cooked meals and daily rainbows.
For this women’s retreat, we’ll stay in a charming guesthouse at the top of the hill with 4 shared rooms.
The guesthouse even has a home gym and ice bath where we’ll do yoga!
Who is this trip for?
Sorry guys this one’s for the ladies! Gals if you answer yes to all of the below, then this trip is for you!
Minimum Wave 1 Certification or Equivalent You don’t need any prior spearing experience but we do ask that you have at least a wave 1 cert!
You’re keen to give it a go While none of the activities, including the spearing, are mandatory, we encourage everyone to at least give it a go. So even if you’re just coming for the gals, this trip will be heavily focused on spearing and our aim is to create a fun, safe, judgement-free environment for everyone to learn!

🪸 Experience the Champagne Reef
This beautiful volcanic reef resembles champagne as geothermal bubbles filter up through the colorful coral.

🧘♀️ Restorative time in natural hotsprings
Just a short walk from town we’ll enjoy the natural hotsprings that flow through a small river in the forest.

🌴 Trek through the jungle to waterfalls
You better believe we’ll go chasing waterfalls, and yes we will absolutely be playing the song in the car on the way.

📅 Jan 27 – Arrival in Soufriére
• This will be a relaxed day as everyone arrives in Dominica
• We’ll have dinner together and a briefing at the accommodation before walking up the hill to catch the sun setting!
🔱 Jan 28 – Intro to everything spearfishing!
• We’ll start the day with a yoga session, then we’ll talk everything spearfishing!
• Starting with a workshop, going over gear and safety
• Then we’ll hit the platform to get the gills wet and do some training for spearing + target practice
• Dinner together at the guesthouse, catered by one of the locals!
🐠 Jan 29 – Lionfish spearing day + hot springs
• Morning yoga
• Quick species identification workshop
• We’ll hit the water for our first day spearing for lionfish!
• Hot spring soak in the afternoon
• Ceviche for dinner + our first lesson in filleting fish!
🐚 Jan 30 – Reef spearing day + waterfalls
• We’ll head out early in the boats for an off-shore reef spot
• Waterfall trek in the afternoon
• We’ll fillet up our fish and cook it for dinner!
🌴 Jan 31 – Rest day
• There’s a ton to do on the island if you want to go out exploring but of course we recommend, well, resting of course!
🌊 Feb 1 – Blue water spearing day + naked dive
• We’ll head out in the boats again for a day on a blue water pinnacle!
• In the evening we’ll go for a sunset dive on the platform, wetsuits will be optional for this one!
🪸 Feb 2 – Morning dive + departure day 🥲
• We’ll go for a morning dive on the Champagne Reef to round off the trip!

Meet Your Hosts
This adventure will be guided by Marissa and Allie.
Marissa loves all things fish. She’s speared for over 6 years in 11 countries and is so excited to share her experience with you.
Allie lives in Soufriére and is a passionate freediver and ocean advocate. She’s also an incredible photographer and will be getting some snaps for us during the trip.

Yes!! This trip is absolutely for beginners or people who have never even tried it before. Our aim is to create a welcoming, judgement-free, machismo-free environment to try something that can otherwise be intimidating to jump into!

Yes you can! All of our expeditions are first opened to prior event attendees before we open them up to the general public! But after that they are open to anyone who’s keen to come along for an adventure :)

During our Family Reunions, we don’t offer certifications. You must be at least Wave 1 certified or the equivalent to be able to attend these events!

Due to the unique nature of the events and how each one is individually planned, we are only able to transfer your deposit to a future Freediving Family Reunion and only if you have requested the deposit to be moved no closer than 6 weeks before the event begins.
In the event that you need to cancel your spot between 6 weeks and 2 weeks of the event starting, we do charge a fee equal to the event deposit. Any balance remaining can be applied to a future Family Reunion.
If you need to cancel within 2 weeks of the event starting, we cannot move your balance to a future event.We cannot issue refunds.

Any spearing equipment is included but any other freediving gear (i.e. wetsuit, fins, mask, etc.) will be available for rent. Lead will be provided but weight belts will not so please bring your own if you have it!

The water in the Dominica is pretty warm! A 3mm should be fine but if you get really cold then maybe consider a 5mm top!

You can pay an initial deposit to secure your spot and 8 weeks before the expedition begins the remaining balance is due.
With no deposit, there is no booking confirmed.
As soon as you book in, you will receive an email with a button that says “Pay Remainder Balance”. We ask that if you are booking on within 8 weeks of the event starting, you continue on to pay the remaining balance as soon as possible!
We ask the full payment to be covered eight weeks before the start of the event.
You can also choose to pay in full upon checkout.

Nothing during the retreat is compulsory.
If you feel like you need some time to chill and relax by skipping a dive session, then by all means do so!
As Brandon always says, this is your vacation and you get to decide how much or little you want to do!
If you do decide to skip an activity, you are not entitled to a partial refund on the event.

The answer is yes! Partners and family members are welcome to join any Freediving Family Reunion, even if they haven’t been to an event.

The price includes accommodation, all transport to scheduled activities, boat fees and spearing equipment rental. It does not include transport to or from the airport, meals (aside from dinners!) or other diving gear hire. To ensure your booking is confirmed, please provide an $800 AUD non-refundable deposit.
