Deep Week Mexico
What is Deep Week?
Deep Week is a week long freediving course set in some of the world’s top freediving destinations. It brings the best freedivers, instructors and experts to one spectacular location for 7 full days of diving, workshops, yoga, meditation and community building!
Most accurately described as an underwater freediving festival, it’s the best place to make life-long freediving friends while getting a premier freediving education. There is truly no other event like it in the world, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience.
The training at Deep Week is suitable for all levels. We get all skill levels joining the event from absolute beginners, to freediving instructors wanting to up-skill, all the way up to freediving competitors seeking to improve their knowledge and technique.
Explore the Hidden Underwater World of the Yucatán Cenotes
The cenotes surrounding Valladolid are far more than freshwater sinkholes - they are one of the most extraordinary diving environments on Earth. Revered by the ancient Maya as sacred entrances to the underworld, these hidden pools are steeped in history, mystery, and natural beauty.
Nestled beneath the jungles of the Yucatán Peninsula, each cenote offers a completely unique underwater experience. Crystal-clear turquoise water, dramatic limestone caverns, beams of sunlight piercing through the jungle canopy, and endless underwater passages create a surreal world unlike anywhere else on the planet.
No two cenotes are the same. Some offer visibility so clear it feels like flying underwater. Others contain mesmerizing haloclines, where fresh and salt water meet to create shimmering underwater mirages. Some hide dense sulfur clouds at depth, where descending through them feels like entering complete darkness.
Throughout the week, we’ll explore and train in a curated selection of the region’s most spectacular cenotes. With thousands scattered throughout the Yucatán, we’ve carefully chosen our absolute favorites to give you the most unforgettable experience possible.
The last time we visited these incredible cenotes we were immediately captivated. The experience was so magical that we began planning this event almost as soon as we surfaced. There truly is nowhere else in the world quite like this - no caves, caverns, or sinkholes compare to the beauty and atmosphere of the cenotes.
And beyond the diving, we’ll be fully immersing ourselves in Mexico - exploring the vibrant culture, eating far too many tacos, and dancing our way through the best local salsa spots after a day beneath the surface.
What to Expect During the Week

The Workshops
Each Deep Week is different and offers interesting and unique workshops but there are always a few classics as well. Brandon, along with our other guest instructors, will be leading a variety of interesting and fun workshops every day. They are a great opportunity to learn from some of the best divers and freediving educators in the world and one of the things that makes Deep Week such an amazing and unique experience.
If you aren’t feeling any of the workshops on the day, no worries! Everything at Deep Week is optional!

The Activities
Deep Week has a packed schedule if you want to follow it to the letter! We dive every day (except for rest day on Wednesday). There’s also pool sessions, freediving theory sessions and workshops!
We also have sunrise yoga, sunset meditation and have family dinners where we all get together and eat, enjoy each others company and talk about freediving (duh!)
We love springing surprises on our Deep Weekers during the week. From creating underwater obstacle courses for you all, arranging pedicures during workshops to turning up to dive sessions with costumes. We genuinely aim to have as much fun as possible. The more fun you have, the better you dive!

Getting to & Staying in Valladolid
To get to Valladolid, you can fly into either Cancún International Airport (CUN) or Merida International Airport (MID.) There are unfortunately no direct flights into Valladolid. From there, you can either rent a car or catch a bus to the bus station in Valladolid and then get a taxi from there. There is also a train that you can get that is a short taxi ride from Cancún Airport.
